Overview
Qinhuangdao is a port city in northern Hebei, about 300 km east of Beijing on the Bohai Sea.
The Great Wall reaches the sea at Qinhuangdao; the original wall is gone, replaced by a long rebuilt stretch. Shanhaiguan, a preserved fortified town, marks the historic eastern end of the Great Wall. A wildlife park of about 5,000 acres beside Beidaihe Scenic Area holds more than 150 species, including tigers, lions, giraffes and pandas. The Old Dragon's Head Great Wall is 2 km from Laodao Ocean Park, which itself is 8 km from Qinhuangdao Airport. Nandaihe Coastal Area, south of Beidaihe, is a seaside resort known for long beaches.
