Overview

The central area holds museums on Pancho Villa and on the national mint, along with government palaces and historic churches. Casa Redonda, the Round House, is a museum in former National Railways of Mexico workshops that date from the early 19th century.

Mansión Quinta Gameros is an Art Nouveau mansion that houses the city's decorative arts museum. El Palomar Park is now the largest city park, on the site of what was once one of its worst neighbourhoods. Grutas de Nombre de Dios is a large cave system of stalactites and stalagmites, with concrete floors and handrails throughout.
